Note me
October passed by and we are on the first days of November
Ive made an altar for the deads with a bit of regret because the pain is still there, you know I miss my brother and things like that
When I was in highschool there were contests about who made the best altar for the deads, it never caught my attention I just keep watching all the colors, shapes, the smell of the air, pictures, I respected those things tho, but it wasnt my thing.
As you might now, we do those things because we hope to gather with our deceased loved ones, and in a way it really happens.
I started with some boxes for my altar, first I thought in an altar with 4 levels, but there is an explanation for the right choice of levels.
2 levels altar: they represent the heaven and earth
3 levels altar, represent the earth, purgatory and heaven, other versions say that is the heaven earth and hell that is in catholic religion but according to Aztecs it was the heaven, earth and underworld.
Seeing this information I decided to do a 3 levels altar, I bought some sort of wrinkled and onion paper (sorry, dont know their names in English) and started wrapping the boxes, I made some paper chains and hanged them in my door with a Catrina (a fancy lady death) and some colorful skull chains, I just keep on my mind that my brother would be really happy when he arrived to my house.

My door and my windows!

The yellow path!
Days passed by and I bought little by little some sugar skulls, candles, small pots, small sized tequila and rum bottles, copal (special Aztec incense!!) but for a weird reason I didnt remembered that my grandpa died last year.

Myself preparing the stuff

Then the day arrived, I started cooking for him, avocado sandwich, raisins with chocolate, rice, green sauce, beans, beer, mango milkshake, deads bread, tequila, rum with a small bottle of coke.

MMM! Yummy deads bread!
I welcomed him with a cross of cempazuchitl (a yellow flower) at my door, a yellow path of cempazuchitls leaves, lighten candles, copal, his food, and also some south american rock, heloved that thing, I talked with him and I really felt his presence, I said good bye to him the next day at 12 noon.
